The Lighthouse Film Festival is excited to present an arm-wrestling showcase, starring world champions John Brzenk and Travis Bagent! John Brzenk is the subject of Saturday's spotlight film, Pulling John. John is the undisputed, undefeated world arm-wrestling champion. Equally famous for his profanity and his strength, Travis Bagent is considered the best left-handed arm wrestler in the world and is currently ranked second overall in North America, as of Summer of 2008. Come watch these larger-than-life personalities demonstrate the sport they love and live for, and learn what it takes to become an arm -wrestling champion! Fun for all ages, and the wrestling stars will sign autographs after the event! Bring the kids!
Spotlight
Slinky's, Pet Rocks and Ant Farms are just some of the novelty items behind a great Novelty Inventor. Co-written and directed by Judi Krant (in her directorial debut), MADE IN CHINA is a comedy about one such inventor, Johnson (Jackson Kuehn), a self-styled novelty inventor from a small town in East Texas, who is determined to bring his big idea - "a humorous domestic hygiene product" - to the world. Johnson's journey takes him to the Mecca of the novelty world: China, where anything is possible and everything has its price. Lost in the backstreets of Shanghai, Johnson discovers that it takes more than a million dollar idea to make it to the big time. It takes guts, determination, and a fist full of sneezing powder. MADE IN CHINA won top honors at the 2009 South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, taking home the Grand Jury Award for best Narrative Feature, and the Chicken & Egg Emergent Woman Award for director, Judi Krant. MADE IN CHINA most recently won Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking at the 2009 Newport Beach Film Festival. The film also stars Dan Sumpter and Syna Zhang.
